WICHITA, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) — The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) has announced its all-conference teams and major award winners for the 2017 volleyball season. Four McPherson College players are among the 39 players honored.
Junior Lexi Kite (Thornton, Colo., Prairie View HS) is a repeat first-team selection. Sophomore Jamie Siess (Tecumseh, Kan., Shawnee Heights HS) was named to the All-KCAC Second Team and junior Devrie Sombers (Colorado Springs, Colo., Pinecreek HS) and freshman Riley Bradbury (Highlands Ranch, Colo., Rock Canyon HS) were All-KCAC Third Team selections.
Kite – a full-rotation player – enters the KCAC Tournament leading the team with 356 kills and ranking second in digs with 442. She also has 32 blocks (six solo), 15 service aces and 12 assists. Kite should also reach a pair of milestones during the season-ending event. She currently has 998 career kills and 99 career blocks.
Siess, the team’s libero, leads the team in digs with 484. She also has 36 assists and 18 service aces.
Sombers has 188 kills, 16 service aces, 38 digs and 67 blocks (15 digs), while Bradbury ranks third on the team with 192 kills.
The Bulldogs (20-10) qualified for this weekend’s KCAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed and begins pool play Thursday afternoon with matches against No. 8-seed Bethany College (1 p.m.) and No. 5-seed Oklahoma Wesleyan University (5 p.m.) before concluding with an 11 a.m. Friday morning match against top-seeded Ottawa University. The top two teams in each of the four-team pools advance to Saturday’s semifinals. All matches will be played at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas.
