2019 Girls Tryouts: What to Expect

We understand that this can be a stressful time for parents and players and want to make this process as simple as possible.  In the next few weeks leading up to Tryouts, we will continue to hold Monday through Thursday Open Gyms.  Open Gyms are a great way for the players to start to get to know our Momentum Coaches in the gym and get familiar with the facility before tryouts!  We will also be hosting a Tryout Prep on July 7.

Price

Price is $55 in advance through LeagueApps or $60 at the door.  If you are attending multiple tryouts, only the first tryout fee is required. Tryouts are non-refundable and will not be credited towards other camps or clinics.  Online registration will close 2 hours before tryouts begin, walk-ins are still welcome, but please allow more time to get registered at the door!  If you sign up for Day 1 the first week, you will receive a discount code (via email) for Day 2 of tryouts!  The second day of Tryouts is not required, but the more you attend the more chances our Coaches have to thoroughly evaluate our potential players.  if you can’t make either of the tryout weeks, email Leslie at lessons@momentmvbc.com to set up a private tryout after July 6th for players new to Momentum.

Tryouts are Paperless

We will be utilizing a new evaluating software called Team Genius to evaluate all Tryouts this season.  We will also be sending out all paperwork through LeagueApps and via Docusign on Signing Day this year.  Make sure you have created your LeagueApps account before Tryouts in order to pre-register!  We will be utilizing the Team Genius software to evaluate skills (passing, serve-receive, setting, serving, attacking, blocking) athleticism, volleyball IQ and teammateness.

What to Expect Day of Tryouts

When you arrive on Tryout Day, there will be tables for player check-in.  Please make sure you allow time beforehand for check-in.  You must have a current RMR registration for tryouts. If you do not, you can get a summer membership by going onto the RMR website under Membership, scroll down for New Summer Membership. Once you arrive at the gym, check in at the appropriate table (1.  You preregistered and don’t have a tee shirt 2.  You preregistered and already have a teeshirt/number from attending open gyms or 3.  You are a walk in.)

After you have checked in, please head to the back left player-area (near the Field House) to put your bags in the cubby/get your shoes/kneepads on.  Once you are ready to go you can make your way over to the courts, grab a ball and start warming up until we are ready to start!  The actual tryout will be broken up into a warmup, positional drills, stations, and live play.

Signing Day/Pre Offers

Pre offers can be made in person, by phone, text, or email at any point up until signing day starting July 7th for non-Momentum players. The offer is non-binding but means that at 10am on FRIDAY, July 19, you will have a contract waiting for you.  (Please excuse the error in our email that says Saturday. Signing Day is Friday 7/19).  Click the link for more information on the RMR Recruiting Policy.

The signing period is new for the 2019-20 year. Players will not be allowed to sign a contract before the 19th of July at 10am. This will allow players to try out at multiple clubs, communicate with the clubs’ staff, and, most importantly, select the club that is the right fit for them.  We will begin to send contracts out to our top picks for each team and pre offers at 10am.  Please be sure your LeagueApps account is accurate and includes both parents and email addresses, the player’s name and birthdate.
