Shawn Johnson enters the 2018-2019 season at Momentum for his first year. In his six years of coaching and one year of playing, Shawn brings passion and a big heart to the game. He sees volleyball as the most complex athletic sport and greatly values the athletes that commit to the game. He is SafeSport and Impact Certified as well as is a traveling coach for Gold Medal Squared Elite Volleyball training, and he attends GMS coaches trainings each off season.
Most recently, Shawn has coached his 16s team to a 18th place finish at the Rocky Mountain Showdown, and his team showed well in the USA division at Colorado Crossroads 2018.
Shawn is a firm believer in the correlation between effort and achieving goals. He believes that failures are learning experiences and a large component of achieving our goals; it is through failure and achievement that we build a growth mindset. His top priorities are having fun, instilling a growth mindset, aiding players in achieving goals, and applying volleyball to real life in order to help his players succeed on and off the court.
When not coaching, Shawn is watching his daughter compete in sports or traveling 4×4 trails toward high alpine lakes for some fly fishing and camping. Shawn is an independent IT contractor specializing in Financial Sector Analytics and Data Warehousing.
