Mike Walker enters the 2018 – 2019 season at Momentum for his second year. He has 20 years of coaching and 15 years of playing experience and is IMPACT & Safesport certified.
Most recently, Mike coached his 14s team to a USA Volleyball National Championship appearance in National Division, a 1st Place finish in the Rocky Mountain Region Powers for 14s, a 1st Place finish in the Zelinkoff Bid Tournament (14s), and a 2nd place finish in the Rocky Mountain Region Classic (14s playing 15s). Mike’s high school boys’ volleyball team finished this past season with a 16-4 record and a regional tournament appearance as well as a CHSAA regional tournament finish for his girl’s high school volleyball team.
Mike is a firm believer in instilling a love of the game—creating lifelong volleyball athletes. He coaches to teach athletes to love the sport and have respect for the sport and each other as teammates. “Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming. — John Wooden” His goal for every season is to ensure each and every player finishes the season better than they started.
When not coaching, Mike, can be found working as an Engineering Manager at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, sitting behind the Colorado State Volleyball team bench cheering his team on and SCUBA Diving. Mike is also a PADI certified SCUBA instructor, volleyball junkie, and airsoft player.
