SARAH MULLENS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior libero/defensive specialist from Aurora, Colo., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 8th to Sunday, October 14th.
Mullens led the 10th-ranked Tiger volleyball team to a pair of SCAC victories over the weekend against Schreiner and Texas Lutheran. She highlighted her weekend with a 32-dig performance in just three games against Texas Lutheran on Saturday, which is a career-best for three sets and is also believed to be a school record for a three-set match. It is tied for the fourth-highest total in a three-set match in conference history.
For the weekend, Mullens averaged 8.80 digs/set, which is well above her season average of 4.16 digs/set as a libero and a defensive specialist. She also led the team to an average of 20.29 digs/set for the weekend. This season, Mullens leads Trinity with 333 total digs – more than 100 ahead of her nearest teammate. She also has a team-best 37 service aces.
